Abstract

This chapter is going to argue for the development of student internal capability to learn in order to promote the culture of quality learning in the higher education sector. Internal capabilities refer to an individual’s beliefs, thoughts and personal disposition (Nussbaum, 2000). The chapter points out that the current quality evaluation mechanisms have encouraged the measurement of student performance as an end product, ignoring the process that students need to follow to become engaged with learning in order to achieve good learning outcomes.
