Abstract

When we first discussed the need for a book of this kind, we thought of it as ‘writing plays, scripts, and performance texts.’ But writing for performance is much more than this. A text that is written for or with the express purpose of performance can be a play, a series of monologues, or a performance blueprint or map, but it can be many other things as well.
