Abstract

Through the nearly one decade of ethnographic work with Chinese immigrant women scientists and engineers and the process of writing this book, I came to realize that these women are stuck in between two worlds of dreams: On one hand, they are outstanding scholars who are pursuing a freer lifestyle and greater potential career possibilities in the U.S., yet remain marginalized in the U.S. science and engineering educational community, with fewer mentoring opportunities, less access to major networks, and limited possibilities for career advancement.
