Abstract

The 21st century has seen a rise in homogenization of educational experiences around the globe. Driven largely by the perceived need for global competitiveness, and reinforced by policy recommendations derived from international assessments such as the PISA, educational systems around the world are emulating (or are trying to emulate) the highest performing countries on the international league tables.
