Abstract

Explorers, enslavers and colonizers such as Christopher Columbus and the Eleutheran Adventurers have often gotten lost in the abundance of natural beauty found in the Bahamas (The Islands of the Bahamas, n.d.). An archipelago, whose name is derived from the Spanish baja mar, meaning “shallow sea,” the Bahamas is comprised of over 700 islands, cays (a low bank or reef of coral, rock, or sand) and islets (a small island) extending over the Atlantic Ocean.
