Abstract
The objective of grouping these disciplines is to encourage teachers to emphasize these fields and promote formal and informal lessons that elicit problem-solving and advance student potential. According to the National Science Board, “The Nation needs ‘STEM innovators’ – those individuals who have developed the expertise to become leading STEM professionals and perhaps the creators of significant breakthroughs or advances in scientific and technological understanding.”3
