Abstract

I am a 29-year-old white male from a primarily rural background.1 I understand the experiences of being raised out in the country. By “out in the country,” I mean outside of any formally incorporated town or village. My childhood home was at the end of a long gravel driveway, and well out of eyesight of the nearest neighbors.
