Abstract

We have often heard that it takes a village to raise a child. Any doctoral student could surely say the same about the substantial support they received from the village that was their dissertation committee (at American universities, a committee of senior faculty members are convened to provide guidance, expertise, feedback, and approval of the doctoral dissertation).
