Abstract
In Chapter 4, I argued that Zionism was the doctrine that changed everything in the history of Palestine and Israel. The initial, core idea of Zionism – to create a safe place for European Jews who had suffered centuries of persecution – was entirely understandable in the time and place where it originated. But we have now seen how it has actually played out: not its hopes, but its realities.
