Abstract

My name has always been a problem…as a child I often felt it a badge of foreignness; now it makes me impatient with the carelessness…it is regularly misspelled [and] far more fanciful versions are also common…it seems people refuse to believe the letters they see on the page, as if they spotted an error and want to correct it.
