Abstract
The last time I saw my grandmother, she bit me. And it was indeed the last time I saw my grandmother alive. Although she had been unyielding in her grip on life, she passed peacefully months after our last meeting. Mama, as ever, was stoic. “She’s gone,” Mama says simply, after I answered the phone one Sunday evening. “I’m going up to see her, and make sure everything is organized.”
