Abstract
The events surrounding the 2013 election in Cambodia are pretty much what would have been expected by observers familiar with the political scene in Cambodia in the last two decades: a National Assembly election fraught with charges of irregularities, followed by a long period of negotiation and demonstrations during which the dispute between the ruling party and the opposition was not resolved, even intensifying and breaking into violent conflict at times.
