Abstract

Chapter 2 explained the organisational structure of WADA, an overview of the different sport and anti-doping bodies in the world and a discussion of the most important rules and standards applicable to the athletes and anti-doping organisations. It discussed which behaviour is considered an ADVR, how tests are distributed and conducted, how samples are gathered, stored, transferred and processed and how they are analysed in labs. The chapter also explained which data are shared between the different anti-doping organisations, how lab results are interpreted and which types of sanctions can be imposed on the athletes when they have been found guilty of taking doping or engaging in other prohibited activities. Finally, the distribution of the burden of proof and the requirement of guilt has been analysed.
