Abstract
After spending the rest of the weekend on her couch watching TV, napping, and drinking in her Old Navy pants and a ratty old gray sweatshirt, Prilly pulled herself together to go to work on Monday. She spent the next couple of days focused entirely on work, blocking everything else from her mind by making herself emotionally numb, a skill she learned while being bullied on the playground in third grade. She shut down so she could show up. This also helped in her dealings with Janice, who now appeared downright angry.
