Abstract
This is a chapter about spaces of learning; in particular those experienced in outdoor and environmental education. Traditionally university courses focus on learning activities within the institution but outdoor experiences play a pivotal role in outdoor education courses. Outdoor educators recognise that there is an intrinsic value in outdoor experiences and the inclusion of off-campus trips in subjects is an accepted assumption that underpins the development of all coursework.
