Chapter 5 confirmed the complexity of the relationship between thought, language and spoken words as demonstrated through the building and synthesis of alternative learning pathways. The complex development of thought passes through, ‘an infinite variety of movements; to and fro, in ways still unknown to us …’ (Vygotsky, 1986, p. 254).
