Abstract
The understanding of workplace learning (e.g. clinical education activities) as participation in authentic workplace activities underscores the importance of explicating the relational nature of workplaces in clinical education. This chapter draws on Narelle’s doctoral research to illuminate the central role a range of workplace relationships have in shaping clinical education experiences and, consequently, learning outcomes. In clinical workplaces students develop meaningful relationships with a wide variety of people and use multiple workplace spaces to develop those relationships.
