Abstract
In March 2013 I was in Pretoria, South Africa for an international conference on youth work. The day my plane landed, the National Executive Committee of the African National Congress Youth League was disbanded by the African National Congress. Of course, it had been the activism of young people, culminating in June 1976, in Soweto that had been pivotal in starting the last act of the defeat of apartheid.
