Abstract
Erick had confused that his privilege would automatically mean protection from the things that were only supposed to happen to people like me, and Mama … and Esperanza’s maternal grandmother. This was what he had confessed to me, that night in the bathroom. He had felt deep shame, every time he would look at me and have such thoughts.
