Abstract

Since 2007, the state of Texas has filed lawsuits against its neighboring states New Mexico and Oklahoma as well as the country of Mexico in an attempt to divert to Texas some of the water flowing through those areas. In January 2013, despite spending over six million dollars on the lawsuit against Oklahoma, Texas lost its right to Oklahoma’s water when the Texas Supreme Court ruled in Oklahoma’s favor (Galbraith, 2013).
