Abstract

Subject creation and differentiation happens differently among people of colour than among white people (Ahmed, 2000; Fanon, 1967). As Audre Lord (1982) recounted in Zami A New Spelling of my Name: A Biomythography, learning to interact with the world outside of one’s family (and, for some, with one’s family) as a person of colour also means learning that you are different, unwanted, less valuable, contaminated.
