Abstract
Our concept of lifelong action learning as outlined in the opening section of this book focuses on self-directed discovery. It concerns learning how to use all the resources we have available to us in life in a relevant and practical way. The case studies presented here and in the following chapter build on this concept by illustrating how greater self-reliance and financial independence can be achieved through lifelong action learning in challenging economic circumstances.
