Abstract
The city of Gdańsk has a dramatic history of displacements. After World War II, the end of which for the city meant nearly total annihilation, following the heavy bombardment by Soviet artillery, the vast majority of its German population was expelled from the ruins of the town. A new population of Gdańsk citizens gradually moved into the ruins and the houses that remained in the districts outside the town’s center.
