Abstract
As a child I was quite adept at using coin-operated washers and dryers. For years the routine was that I would hound my mother for her loose change, stockpiling dimes and quarters for the weekend wash. The various apartment complexes in which we lived in the mid-1960s sometimes had laundry facilities on site—a golden amenity.
