From the Perspective of Curriculum Guidelines

  • Chapter
Curriculum Innovations in Changing Societies

Abstract

Since the lifting of Martial Law in 1987, Taiwanese society has been liberalized, democratized, and diversified. Educational reform came into full bloom, with a focused concern on curriculum reform. The present paper analyzes the political, economic, and social backgrounds for Taiwan’s curriculum reform, as well as the revision of the curriculum standards for elementary school and junior high school during the early post-Martial-Law period.
