Abstract
The title of this book is Realising Exemplary Practice-Based Education. Thechoice of the word “realizing” was deliberate, to encompass both realising meaningunderstanding and realising meaning, making real or actualising. And “practicebasededucation” (PBE) was chosen to focus the book on education which preparesgraduates for practice across the considerable range of occupations, vocations, disciplines and professions that universities collectively serve. Such educationprepares people to become contributing members of society as well as members oftheir professional, disciplinary or occupational communities.
