Abstract

Leadership of schools is increasingly seen by both researchers and policy-makers as an essential element for school improvement (Leithwood & Levin 2005, Marzano, Waters & McNulty 2005, Day et al 2010). The quality of teaching is rightly the focus for effective education (Hattie, 2010) but without its sound leadership it is unlikely to be effective very long.
