Abstract
I write on behalf of Maria Montessori.1 I don’t claim to channel her directly but I share her deep love of children and her faith that they represent our hope for a future that is more peaceful and harmonious. She was Italian, through-and-through, and I am from the country that first embraced her whole-heartedly, and then rejected her—the United States.
