Abstract
Cuban education is characterized by the national objective of holistically training individuals to function at the academic, community and societal levels for the greater good of the country. This aim is instilled in young Cubans by systematically trained teachers and a highly structured national curriculum. Teacher pre-service formation in Cuba is highly practice-based and in-service teachers are offered free professional development throughout their teaching careers.
