Abstract
It’s hard to be a human being and deeply painful to be conscious…. To care, to love with every part of our wondrous selves, with the memory of every palpable cell of our beings. To reach out embracing life, in honor of all that is good, beautiful, sensual, just, brave, wise, funny. Yes, funny, in honor of life-giving humor. (Hernández-Ávila, 2002, p. 531) In connection to the powerful quote above, conscious caring hurts as much as it heals.
