The Technology of Portfolios

X-Rays and Thumbprints

Composing a Care of the Self

Abstract

Power is war, the continuation of war by other means (Foucault, 1997, p. 15). Portfolios offer the teacher a window into the learner’s mind and a format for tapping into each learner’s strengths; a sample portfolio illustrates how to create a profile of each learner by looking at collections of student work, gathered from best-practices teachers in Cambridge. (Stefanakis, 2002, pp. xxviii–xxix).
