Abstract

This chapter creates a case study of a mathematics problem used in the MARBLE project rather than reporting on a case study carried out in a school. It is based on similar experiences of all teachers in one of the two clusters in the project who explored in depth some of the survey problems used with their students. The presentation, however, is post hoc, in that recordings were not made of teacher conversations and some of the solutions presented were written by other students in the project.
