  • Chapter
Biology Education for Social and Sustainable Development

Abstract

The study examines and compares the Science Education System, Life Science and Environmental Education System (LSEE) in Japan and Ukraine secondary schools (SS). It analyzes national standards for LSEE curriculum in these two countries and other selected states from grade 7 to 12 to determine which of Japan or Ukraine is closer to approaching the international standards of developed countries. In addition, the study aims to identify themes that might be proposed for introduction into Japan’s and Ukraine’s curriculum or as sources of social education.
