Abstract

The Governance of Britain Green paper was presented to Parliament by the Secretary of State for Justice and Lord Chancellor, Jack Straw, in July 2007. In Chapter 4 Britain’s future: the citizen and the state, it talks about Citizenship and national identity. The paper acknowledges in the opening line that …the concept of Citizenship is a complex one … (2007:53).
