Abstract

Unlike many of the authors in this book, I have never had the privilege of meeting Rolland G. Paulston. Despite this, his writings and work in social cartography were the primary catalyst for helping me as I struggled to bridge the gap between the worlds of a school principal and graduate student in a major research university. While Paulston’s work clearly represents the power that theory can hold for scholars, I found its concrete terms and clear presentation to be an inspiration to me as a school practitioner.
