Abstract
Throughout the world a large group of students is facing considerable academic problems at school due to limited language proficiency. Language learning can, however, not be the sole responsibility of the language teacher, or in case of second language learners, the responsibility of the second language teacher(Vollmer, 2006). We simply do not have enough time in education to wait with subject teaching until the students’ language proficiency has reached the standards we would require to start teaching subject matter(Lee & Buxton, 2010).
