Abstract

“In the beginning was the Word,” the Christian apostle John said, “and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (1:1). Indeed, many religious faiths tell of deities speaking the world into existence, of gods-as-authors, and even those faiths that do not still only come into power and relevance as a way of understanding the human condition through storytelling of some sort.
