Abstract
We begin this book with a section that offers something of what Jane Miller (1995) describes as the ’autobiography of the question’ or, in this case, the autobiography of the question of method. With an increased recognition of the importance of the positioning of the researcher, the place of reflexivity in qualitative work, and the emergence of work in autoethnography (Ellis, 2004) and self-study (Pithouse, Mitchell, & Moletsane, 2009), we think it is useful to ‘draw ourselves’ into the research.
