Abstract

Paulo Freire would have been 90 had he been alive today. From 1970 onwards, after his Pedagogy of the Oppressed was published, he has remained at the centre of every discussion on the philosophy and practice of adult education. In this chapter we shall examine four collections of essays published in 1972, 1997, 2007 and 2008. While the anthology of 1972 was the reflection of thinking in the United States, other works drew upon the criticism of a wide range of scholars from all over the world.
