Abstract
Exchange programmes are becoming increasingly popular among students at universities of teacher education. A recent report on trends by the Swiss Conference of Rectors of Universities of Teacher Education (COHEP) shows that the number of students of teacher education who complete a guest semester or a teaching internship abroad has significantly increased since the founding of the universities of teacher education and that this number is expected to further increase in the following years (Plaschy, 2006). Thus, participation in exchange programmes is becoming more and more self-evident in teacher education.
