Making it Happen

  • Chapter
Looking to the Future

Abstract

The ideas, principles and values advocated in this book with respect to critical consideration of SSI and environmental issues are drawn from a wide range of scientific, social, political, cultural, historical, aesthetic, emotional, moral-ethical and economic concerns. If students are to address complex, multi-faceted SSI in ways that are meaningful and productive, they will need relevant scientific knowledge, though whether this is best provided through prior instruction or on a “need-to-know” basis undoubtedly varies substantially from situation to situation (see chapter 2).
