Abstract
The summer of 2009 might be remembered for the death of Michael Jackson, tormented genius. Was he angel or beast? I am struck by my own caught-upness in the swirls of rumor surrounding his sudden death, by the emotion flooding out from his memorial, by the sordidness of his life story, slowly emerging, dripping, we could say, like the drops of Diprivan into his body (hand? neck?); by the news of his seeking seventy-two hours of induced coma: release, relief from his demons, his fleshliness; put under with anesthesia for three days into a no-dream state.
