Abstract

In the previous chapter, the main policy issues were described that have surrounded the initiatives to widen participation in higher education. The language of the policy discourse embraces all the different aspects of the worlds within worlds of the multiverse (Chown 2007) as depicted in Table 4, described in Chapter 2. In this chapter, the complex nature of language and literacy will be examined further. This will show how the language of business has permeated all aspects of universities’ educational provision.
