Abstract

Bangladesh has a population of about 140.6 million on a land area of 147,570 sq. km. with a population density of 953 per sq. km. The per capita GDP is US $482.00. The literacy rate of the population (7+Yrs) is 52.5% (2006). The civilian labor force is about 40.43 million, out of which, only 13.56% are in the industrial labor sector.
