Abstract

Countries in the Asia-Pacific region have restructured, expanded and reformed their educational and training systems. A major objective has been to bring these economies more in line with new global forces that demand greater international competitiveness, flexibility and innovativeness from enterprises, as well as greater skills and flexibility from the labor force (ADB, 2003).
