Abstract
The question of how best to prepare students to build meaningful lives and strong societies has long challenged educators. In this chapter, we look at some educational trends and propose that an emphasis on unifying human rights education with global education holds significant potential for assisting students to be responsible citizens in a changing world. Both global education (GE) and human rights education (HRE) have merits of their own. However, while there is some overlap in what they cover, we argue that merging them together into a more unified, formalized pedagogical approach called Human Rights Global Education (HRGE) will provide students with a stronger framework than teaching either HRE or GE alone. Guidelines and resources for the development and implementation of HRGE are provided.
