Abstract

The prospect of TRC as a legitimate alternative to common construction materials shows promise of many advantages including cost reduction, sustainability, and structural longevity. An automated TRC manufacturing process based on the standard industrial techniques was developed and used to produce and test full scale TRC composite structural sections including plate, L, hat, T, and C sections. These sections were tested in direct tension and compression at a length of up to 1.2 m to study the mechanical response of these full-scale sections. Results were compared to the coupon responses to determine reduction in strength due to changes in geometry and connection types.
