Screening of Liquids with Quasioptical High-T c Josephson Detectors

Nanotechnology in the Security Systems

Abstract

Development of a quasioptical set-up based on a high-T c Josephson detector and intended for detection of liquids inside dielectric containers is presented. First results of reflectance measurements for water/ethanol mixtures are shown in the frequency range from 50 to 500 GHz. A dynamic range in reflectance measurements of 200 has been reached for a scanning time of a few seconds. A possibility of recovery of the residual alcohol content in “alcohol-free” beverages has been demonstrated with this set-up.
