Abstract
The monitoring program of Lake Kinneret and its watershed was established more than 40 years ago with objectives to follow the quantity and quality of the lake water, to observe and predict long-term changes in water quality, and to identify the processes that determine and affect water quality. This chapter describes the various components of the Kinneret monitoring program, alongside its development and evolution during the past decades. Recent application of early warning monitoring systems and advanced techniques for near-real-time, synoptic, and high-resolution data collection of many water quality parameters are briefly outlined.
