Abstract

Singlet states of carotenoids: Singlet states of carotenoids consist of the optically-allowed 1Bu + and the optically-forbidden 1Bu and 2Ag states which are involved in Car → BChl singlet-energy transfer. These energies of Car decrease with the number of conjugated double bonds, n, as linear functions of 1/(2n + 1).
